Education and support for people with diabetes
Diabetic Education at Mille Lacs Health System helps patients better understand and manage their disease through education regarding healthy eating, glucose monitoring, exercise, and diabetes medication.
The Diabetes Education Department helps design individualized plans for patients, including tools and support to help make the plans easy to follow. Diabetes Education can take place in a group, through one-on-one sessions, or at informal settings. Both an R.N. and a Registered Dietitian are part of the Diabetic Education team.

- The Diabetes Education team can help you more closely monitor your diabetes with the iPro Continuous Glucose Monitoring system. The small device is worn for 3-7 days and gives your clinicians an in-depth glucose check, revealing glucose fluctuations that fingersticks and even A1 tests can miss.
- Guided Weight Loss Therapy is not just for those dealing with diabetes, but it is another tool to help anybody with a BMI over 30. A collaborative weight loss effort, it includes assessment, a personalized plan, behavioral change techniques, and ongoing support for up to a year.
- Support groups offer encouragement, education, problem-solving, and valuable feedback.
