Mille Lacs Health System
If you have ever had a loved one in hospice, you know how important this service is to the patient and family at a time when care with dignity and quality is so very much needed.
According to the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization’s 2018 Facts and Figures Report, over one and a half million people in the US receive care from a hospice program each year. Research shows that hospice care reduces the number of hospital visits, lowers overall healthcare costs for the patient, and allows the individual needing care the opportunity to be served at home.
In the Mille Lacs region, Mille Lacs Health System Hospice has served the community for ten years and continues to operate as a community-based service for the terminally ill and their families.
Comprehensive plans, competent professionals, personalized care and support, and respecting the patient’s dignity are all reasons why MLHS Hospice care is a choice for individuals facing end-of-life care. But many patients access hospice care too late to fully take advantage of all that this team-based, patient and family-focused model of care can offer.
Hospice is a special kind of care that seeks to enable clients to carry on an alert, pain-free life, so their last days may be spent with dignity and quality at home or in a home-like setting. MLHS’s Hospice is a program that provides sensitivity and support for people in the progression of a terminal illness, bringing comfort into the lives of those who need it most. The program welcomes donations, and one of the ways you can donate is to sponsor a Monarch butterfly in memory of a loved one.
The 20th annual Butterfly Release is a fundraising event held during Wahkon Days at the Ellen Ruth Park in Wahkon on Sat., Aug. 17th at noon. If you purchase a butterfly in advance, it will be released at the event, in honor of your loved one.
You can buy a butterfly by clicking here "Donate to MLHS Hospice".
