MLHS Welcomes New Chief Nursing Officer

Mille Lacs Health System (MLHS) is pleased to announce Janelle Christie, MSN, RN, as our new Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). With more than two decades of experience in nursing and healthcare leadership, Janelle brings a strong commitment to patient care, safety, and employee engagement.

Originally from Barnesville, Minnesota—a small town located between Fergus Falls and Fargo—Janelle has built a career rooted in compassion, clinical expertise, and team collaboration. She began working in healthcare as a nursing assistant and home health aide before earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Concordia College in 2001.

Janelle started her nursing career at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, working on the Orthopedics, Neurology, and Telemetry Unit. She later moved into surgical services, serving in various roles as a surgical RN. In 2017, she accepted a leadership role at Fairview Northland Hospital in Princeton as Manager of Surgical Services. Most recently, she served as Executive Director at Twin Cities Orthopedics, further strengthening her experience in operational leadership.

In 2021, Janelle completed her Master of Science in Nursing, specializing in Leadership and Management, from Western Governors University. She now brings that knowledge and perspective to Mille Lacs Health System, where she will lead nursing operations across the organization.

“I’m so excited to be a part of the team at Mille Lacs Health System,” Janelle said. “My entire career has been dedicated to healthcare. I’m passionate about providing high-quality, safe patient care and creating a supportive and engaging environment for staff.”

Janelle currently lives in Zimmerman with her husband and three children. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and supporting her children in their many activities.

With her extensive background and people-focused leadership style, Janelle is well-positioned to support the vision of MLHS to be the best place to give and receive care. Additionally, the mission of MLHS in assisting those residing in and visiting the Mille Lacs area in achieving and maintaining optimal health.
