End-of-Life Care is Now Medicare-Certified
Our local community of Onamia, as well as the surrounding communities who have need of hospice care, can now be assured of financial assistance for all aspects of compassionate end-of-life care. Because Mille Lacs Health System’s Hospice Care has, at last, become Medicare-Certified, all services related to medical care for a terminal illness, including nursing care; medications; home health aids; beds; and emergency hospital care are now covered by Medicare, in conjunction with or without private insurance plans.
Shelly Hanneken, RN., who oversees the total needs of Hospice clients as Case Manager says “IDG is required to follow a regulated protocol set up by Medicare and as such, together, we are able to provide the best possible end-of-life care for each client in our program.”
Classes for volunteers began in June.
Please call Ida Tomasko at (320) 532-4127 if you are interested in volunteering for MLHS Hospice Care. It will be a rewarding experience for you, the volunteer, because, through your compassion, you will be bringing sunshine to the people you are visiting and making them feel loved and cared about.
