MLHS Welcomes Two New Family Medicine Providers

October 10, 2025

Mille Lacs Health System is pleased to welcome two new Family Medicine physicians to its medical staff: Ijeoma Toulassi, MD, and Nicholas Booker, DO. Both bring a passion for comprehensive, patient-centered care and a strong commitment to the health and well-being of the Mille Lacs community.

Dr. Ijeoma Toulassi is originally from Nigeria. She earned a bachelor's degree in Biology from Lyceum Northwestern University and completed medical school at Emilio Aguinaldo College, both located in the Philippines. She later moved to the United States, where she completed her medical residency at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

Dr. Toulassi says her favorite part of family medicine is the opportunity to “help patients with everything,” emphasizing the variety and continuity the field offers. “My style of care is focused on developing strong patient–doctor relationships and providing a holistic form of care, looking at the entire person,” she said. Outside of work, Dr. Toulassi enjoys dancing, cooking, and spending time with friends.

Dr. Nicholas Booker is originally from Andover, Minnesota, and is familiar with the Mille Lacs area, having often passed through on his way to family cabins and campsites in Breezy Point. He earned his bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Biomedical Science, with a minor in Chemistry, from Minnesota State University in Mankato. He completed medical school at Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Iowa and went on to complete his residency at the Family Medicine Residency of Western Montana.

As a Doctor of Osteopathy (DO), Dr. Booker is fully licensed to practice medicine, with additional training in osteopathic manipulative medicine, a hands-on approach that supports the body’s natural structure and function. This perspective emphasizes treating the whole person and understanding how lifestyle, structure, and function work together to influence health. “I enjoy helping patients understand what’s happening in their bodies and why, and how recommended treatments and therapies affect those processes,” said Dr. Booker. “I believe this counseling gives meaning to the plan and empowers patients to take active steps toward their health and well-being.”

Dr. Booker enjoys rollerblading, golfing, bowling, playing video games, and watching documentaries, especially those about space. He lives with his wife Megan, their son Landon, four cats (Toes, Scout, Frankie, and Jackie), and their border collie, Lolo.
