Answers to the frequently asked questions:
Yes, as long as we have your correct current insurance information. Without this information, you will be billed. Please bring your current insurance identification card to all appointments. You may also update your current insurance information by contacting the Business Office.
Yes, we will bill both plans, provided we have all the required information for both plans, including each subscriber’s name and date of birth so we can coordinate benefits correctly. The subscriber’s plan will be primary for him or herself, with the other plan as secondary.
You will receive a bill after we have filed the claim with your insurance(s) and they have processed it. The length of time this takes can vary.
We contract with outside providers to bring you certain services, such as some lab work, surgical services, and visits with specialists. As a result, you may receive a bill for their services from their office. If you have questions on these charges, please call the phone number listed on their statement.
Payments can be made by check, money order or credit card, by mail, or in person at any one of our clinics. Credit card payments can also be made online or by calling 320-532-3154, ext. 2640. Or, click here to pay online at MLHS. We accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover.

The Mille Lacs Health System Family Medicine Clinic in Milaca (Isle/Hillman/Garrison) is a freestanding clinic.
A freestanding clinic is a doctor’s office or other healthcare site that is not located within a hospital setting. This offers benefits to you:
You usually will get just one bill from Mille Lacs Health System which includes any lab work, scans, x-rays, doctor charges, etc.
This often means your cost of getting care at a freestanding clinic is lower than if you were treated at the hospital.
There are times when you may get more than one bill after visiting one of our freestanding clinics. If your doctor sends a lab culture or biopsy to the Mille Lacs Health System for testing, this may result in a separate bill.
Typically our doctors will send your insurance information along with the lab work and your insurance carrier will be billed directly. But sometimes the lab bill can come to you. In this case, please check with your insurance carrier before you pay the bill.
