Double Your Donation: Foundation Launches New Campaign

December 10, 2025

The Mille Lacs Area Health Foundation has fulfilled its $75,000 pledge toward the purchase of a new ambulance for Mille Lacs Health System (MLHS) and is already focusing on its next major initiatives. The Foundation has set new goals of raising $50,000 to support the upcoming Surgery Department remodel and another $50,000 dedicated to clinic improvements, beginning with updates at the Isle Clinic. To accelerate these efforts, the Foundation has also offered a donation match of up to $100,000 for all contributions received toward the campaign by January 10.

The Isle Clinic renovation will be the first project supported by the new campaign. MLHS plans to refresh the clinic with updated interiors, a redesigned reception area, improved patient spaces, updates to the laboratory and rehab areas, and upgrades to major building systems that have aged over time such as the HVAC system and roof. The work will focus on creating a more comfortable, welcoming, and efficient clinic experience or patients and families in the Isle area, while also supporting the staff who work there every day. All updates will occur within the clinic’s existing space to keep services operating during construction.

These improvements reflect MLHS’s ongoing commitment to sustaining high-quality healthcare close to home. When completed, the remodeled clinic will offer a more patient-friendly environment, improved accessibility, and a modernized setting that supports long-term community health needs.

In addition to its current campaign, the Foundation is celebrating a milestone year of giving. In 2025 alone, it contributed more than $220,000 to a wide range of local projects and organizations. Support reached MLHS ambulance purchases and other hospital needs, local food shelves, Toys for Tots, area school equipment, after-prom events, scholarships, fire departments, Operation Community Connect, youth sports physicals, and more. This total does not include other donor-directed funds, further highlighting the Foundation’s growing impact across the region.

Director of Foundation & Community Relations, Jamie Root-Larsen said, "I greatly admire our Foundation for their forward-thinking generosity and unwavering support of our health system. Their ability to recognize when additional resources are needed - and to step up - truly reflects the spirit of rural healthcare. As demands grow and challenges intensify across rural communities, we are resolute in doing our part to ensure this facility remains strong, innovative, and fully prepared to serve the Mille Lacs area far into the future. This is a chance for our communities to come together and support the places we depend on for care. And, with the donation match in place, every gift, big or small, has double the impact.”

The growing Mille Lacs Area Health Foundation board now includes 14 dedicated community members from Isle, Hillman, Garrison, Onamia, and Milaca - each bringing unique energy and insight to our mission. Their next big event, the annual Spring Fling, will be held April 24th at Tulibee Tavern in Wahkon, and will once again feature our community’s favorite: Music Bingo.
