New InstyMeds Machine Provides After-Hours Prescription Access

Mille Lacs Health System (MLHS) now offers an InstyMeds medication dispensing machine located in the Emergency Department waiting room at its Onamia campus. The machine provides patients with a convenient option for obtaining select prescribed medications before leaving the hospital after pharmacy hours.
When a prescription is needed, providers will ask patients where they would like it filled. Patients may choose their preferred retail pharmacy or InstyMeds. If InstyMeds is selected, the patient will receive a barcode to scan at the machine, allowing access to their prescribed medication.
The InstyMeds machine offers a variety of commonly prescribed medications, including many antibiotics, pain medications, and other frequently prescribed treatments.
Patients should be aware that insurance is not processed through the InstyMeds machine. Medications are paid for out of pocket using a credit card, although many available medications are offered at affordable prices. A phone located at the machine provides direct access to InstyMeds customer support should assistance be needed.
While the MLHS Community Pharmacy in Onamia remains open seven days a week, InstyMeds provides an additional option for patients who need access to prescribed medications after pharmacy hours or before leaving the hospital.
