July 30, 2026

From IV antibiotics and blood transfusions to advanced wound care and treatments for chronic diseases, Mille Lacs Health System's Infusion Therapy Center offers specialized outpatient services designed to help patients receive the care they need close to home.

The Infusion Therapy Center provides treatments in a comfortable outpatient setting, allowing patients to receive essential therapies without hospitalization. Whether treatment is needed for a short time or as part of an ongoing care plan, the experienced nursing team delivers safe, compassionate care while working closely with providers to coordinate each patient's treatment.

"We strive to create an environment where patients feel comfortable and supported during every visit," said Fawn Fulton, RN, Manager of Surgery and Infusion Therapy at Mille Lacs Health System. "Many of our patients return regularly for treatment, so it's important that they feel welcomed, cared for, and confident in the care they're receiving."

The Infusion Therapy Center works closely with providers across the region and collaborates with Mille Lacs Health System's laboratory, clinic, and acute care teams to ensure seamless, coordinated care.

Services include intravenous (IV) antibiotic therapy, electrolyte replacement, blood transfusions, addiction medication support, vascular access and line care, and both simple and complex wound management.

Many medications used to treat chronic or complex diseases are administered through an infusion rather than taken as a pill. The Infusion Therapy Center provides treatments for conditions including rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, multiple sclerosis, osteoporosis, migraine disorders, and other autoimmune conditions.

The Infusion Therapy Center recently added a certified wound care registered nurse who specializes in both simple and complex wound management. He documents wound progress with clinical photographs that can be securely shared with providers, helping them monitor healing and track a patient's progress over time.

The Infusion Therapy Center also welcomes patients who are visiting the Mille Lacs area and need scheduled infusion treatments during their stay. In many cases, arrangements can be made so patients can continue their prescribed therapy without unnecessary travel or interruption.
